South African passports can’t be renewed – you will need to apply for a new passport. Be aware that, due to Covid-19, passport renewals may take much longer than normal so apply timeously. Your passport needs at least 6 months validity after your planned return and there should be at least 2 blank pages remaining, so do not leave application to the last minute.
